The National Library of Naples keeps the most conspicuous corpus of Giacomo Leopardi's autographed documents. In the article the author retraces the events that led to the formation of the documentary collection concerning the Poet. In particular, he retraces the judicial and administrative path taken by the "Leopardi papers" in the possession of Antonio Ranieri before arriving at the National Library of Naples in 1907, where they are still preserved.
