Inspired by Stuart Hall's work, Bob and Fazal introduced the subtitle that now gives the journal its distinctive and broad mission: the study of education from the perspective of the cultural politics that shape it and it shapes. The standing of the journal across these fields reflects the sustained commitment of the previous editors to publish the highest quality and most innovative academic work exploring the cultural politics of education today.
