Abstract

In this study, the electricity generation capacity of Chlorella vulgaris was investigated by using a lab scale biophotovoltaic cell (BPVC). Tin oxide coated copper mesh and platinum coated titanium mesh were used as anode and cathode electrode in BPVC. The maximum power density of BPVC was obtained as 142.28 mW/m2. Nyquist result demonstrated that anode biofilm resistance was 0.74 O. It was detected from the SEM images that a thick biofilm layer present on anode electrode, which was taken at the end of the operation period of BPVC. The results showed that the electricity generation performance of BPVC is compatible with the literature values. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
