Abstract

REINAGLE Violin Sonata in F • t ing-Lan c hen (vn); n athan Buckner (pn) • aLBan y 1840 (48:21) American Violin Sonatas, from Albany Records, pairs works by Rubin Goldmark (1872-1936) and Alexander Reinagle (1756-1809). A final word in acknowledgment of pianist Warren Lee on the present disc: the piano parts to these sonatas are far from mere accompaniments. Occasional one-off of a Fuchs sonata here and there, the aforementioned Ursula Maria Berg with Oliver Triendl is the only complete survey of the composer's violin sonatas I'm aware of, and while those Thorofon discs appear to be still available, they're very pricey.
