Abstract

The exploding foil initiator has been developed to satisfy the requirements of modern high-performance artillery and aerospace technologies with respect to speed, consistency, and safety. This study examines the explosive process of the nine-point exploding foil bridge through simulations and experiments. The factors affecting the detonation-related performance, such as the firing circuit, detonation mode, bridge foil shapes, and output charge are analyzed and discussed.
