Abstract

Binary transition metal oxides have received extensive attraction as anode in lithium ion batteries because of their high theoretical capacities and synergistic effect of the two metal elements. In this work, CNTs embedded in Sb 2 MoO 6 @C hollow spheres are successfully fabricated through solvothermal process accompanied by sintering treatment. Benefiting from the hierarchical architecture and the conductive networks inside Sb 2 MoO 6 @C hollow spheres that induced by the CNTs and the amorphous carbon, the obtained CNTs@Sb 2 MoO 6 @C displays excellent high rate performance with a specific capacity of 219 mAh g−1 after 500 cycles at current density of 5000 mA g−1. • CNTs embedded in Sb 2 MoO 6 @C hollow spheres are successfully fabricated. • CNTs and the coated amorphous carbon networks facilitate Li+ ion diffusion. • CNTs@Sb 2 MoO 6 @C displays excellent electrochemical performance.
