Abstract

To produce this exhibition, the PEM partnered with the Kunstmuseum Den Haag in the Netherlands. The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts is the oldest continually operating museum in the United States.[1] Created from a merger of the Peabody Museum of Salem and the Essex Institute, the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) reflects its two-hundred-year history with an extraordinary collection of art, including maritime, American, Asian, Oceanic, and African.
