Abstract
- This article emphasizes on the waste heat utilization from the exhaust of a diesel engine by a cogeneration system. Parametric and second law analyses of an integrated cogeneration system consisting of an organic Rankine cycle and a double stage vapour absorption refrigeration cycle generating power and cooling effect utilizing waste heat of a diesel engine exhaust have been represented here. Toluene is used as working fluid in the organic Rankine cycle and water - Lithium Bromide solution is used as working fluid in the absorption refrigeration cycle. The influences of various system operating parameters on the performance of the proposed system has been represented. The results show that the maximum second law efficiency, electrical efficiency, electrical power, cooling capacity are 58.52%, 32.43%, 20.80 kW, 69.12 kW, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
