Abstract

The median age of patients with UM with eCAs was slightly lower (63 years) than that of patients with UM with no eCAs (66 years), even though the means were similar between the two groups (mean ± SD 63 ± 9.9 for the eCA groups vs. 64 ± 12.3 for the no-eCA group) (Fig. Sixteen patients (49%) had TNN > 10, and the proportion of patients with TNN > 10 was lower in the group with UM and eCAs than in the group with UM and no eCAs ( I P i < 0.01) (Fig. In previous studies, a clinical association between eruptive cherry angiomas (eCAs) and cutaneous malignancies has been found.1,2The presence of both lesions in the same individuals may suggest a shared pathophysiology between eCAs and other tumours.2 While the association of eCAs with cutaneous melanoma has been well established, the rate of association with other rare melanocytic malignancies, such as uveal melanoma (UM) has not been yet explored.
