Abstract

A recent Patient Safety Alert stipulates that all patients at risk of adrenal crisis are provided with a Steroid Emergency Card. This article discusses which patients are at risk, how to identify adrenal crisis and why urgent action is needed when it occurs. It also summarises the requirements of the new alert.
