Senior*innen im Tourismus: Wie man reist, wenn man älter ist.

For various reasons, older people have been considered an important target group for future tourism, for many years. Using the example of vacationers from Germany, we examine the actual vacation behavior of seniors (is it different?) and the expected trends in the coming decade (more and more demographic change?). The analysis is based on data of the annual German survey “Reiseanalyse” (Travel analysis) with time series going back to the early 70s of the last century. It shows a growing importance of senior trips, not only because of the rising share in population, but also driven by a changing behavior, i.e. a stronger participation in travel activities.
