Abstract

[Objective] This paper analyzes the relationship between the ecological types of the peculiar fish in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the evolution of the paleoenvironment. [Method] Using X-ray electron probe micro-area technology (EPMA), the Sr and Ca elements of the plateau loach and small head plateau loach collected from the Tongtian River in the source area of the Yangtze River were analyzed, and the inductance was used at the same time. The coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) measured the concentration of Sr in the water. [Results] It was found that both the plateau loach and the small head plateau loach can be divided into two life history types: (1) The Sr/Ca ratio from the core to the extreme edge of the otolith remains at a low level (<3), The distribution analysis chart is blue with low Sr, showing that the entire life history of the individual is in the water in a low Sr environment; (2) The Sr/Ca ratio fluctuates significantly between 2-15, and the Sr element intensity analysis chart shows a high Sr Green (Study's Plateau Loach) or even red (Small-head Plateau Loach), suggesting its history of high Sr environment. [Conclusion] The Sr element characteristics of the two plateau loach otoliths are consistent with the environmental background values of high Sr in the upper waters of the Tongtian River and relatively low Sr in the lower waters. This research provides a new perspective to understand the changes in the ancient environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
