Abstract

According to Neyrat and his anticonstructivist ecology of separation, only a distancing from nature - which recognises its "unconstructable part" and its inaccessibility to humans - can enable a true political ecology. To keep the Earth habitable, we need a new ecology ( I oikos-logia i ). The argument becomes troubling, however, when Neyrat extends his critique against this eco-constructivist rationale to Bruno Latour's political ecology. The unconstructable earth: an ecology of separation: by Frédéric Neyrat, New York, Fordham University Press, 2018, translated from French by Drew S. Burk, 256 pp, $105.00 (hardback), ISBN 9780823282586. [Extracted from the article]
