Abstract

Clotting Factor XIII has multiple intra- and extracellular functions. The tetramer consists of 2 subunits A und 2 subunits B. Catalytical subunit FXIII-A also exists in Cytoplasm in special cells. An important function in blood coagulation is crosslinking of fibrin for woundhealing by covalent bonds. Deficiency of factor XIII leads to bleeding and disruption in woundheeling.
