Abstract
- This paper discusses gender barriers faces by female transport research academics throughout their careers and the impact this has on their leadership potential. Known issues include the Matilda effects, maternity penalties, everyday harassment and gender discrimination, and lack of influential networks. Based on the literature and surveys conducted by the H2020 EU funded TInnGO project has revealed a set of 37 factors which impede women's progress in transport research. These factors are mapped on to Woodcock et al's Hexagon - Spindle of Educational ergonomics and recommendations proposed for addressing each of these. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
