Abstract

In April 1999, when Tatis was three months old, his father became the first MLB player to hit two grand slams in a single inning, a feat that had yet to be duplicated by the time of Tatis's own professional baseball debut. Tatis's opportunity came following the Padres' 2019 spring training camp, when team leadership called him up to the major leagues. Tatis began his Minor League Baseball (MiLB) career about two weeks after the trade, joining the rookie-level affiliate Arizona League Padres.
