Abstract
- Based on a detailed analysis of the literature on the use of infrared and microwave energy supply in the drying of raw materials, the conclusion is made about the prospects of developing equipment that combines the combined effects of infrared and microwave radiation for drying oil-containing raw materials, including corn and soybeans. Analysis of these studies allows us to conclude that the use of microwave radiation accelerates the transfer of moisture from the middle of the material to the outside, and infrared radiation effectively transmits energy to moisture on the surface of the material. Thus, the combination of sequential exposure to microwave and infrared radiation can significantly accelerate the drying process and improve its energy efficiency. Previous studies of the drying kinetics of corn, sunflower and soybeans have yielded equations for determining the drying time of these products in such dryers, which, in turn, has become a starting point for creating methods of design and verification calculations of such dryers. The purpose of the constructive calculation of the dryer is to determine the overall dimensions of the dryer and the power of the installed emitters. At the first stage of calculation, the properties of the product, such as the equilibrium moisture content of the product and the coefficient of water activity, are determined by the parameters of the product and the environment. Next, the partial pressure of water vapor in the ambient air and the thermophysical properties of water vapor, such as the pressure of saturated water vapor, the specific heat of vaporization and the diffusion coefficient of water vapor in the air, are determined. At the next stage we determine the speed of the conveyor belt. Next, we determine the corresponding values of the mass transfer coefficients and the generalized mass transfer coefficient. The value of the generalized mass transfer coefficient determines the drying rate in the first period and the drying time.The length of the installation and the number of mass transfer modules are determined by the determined value of the product residence time in the installation. At the last stage, the power of the IR emitters of a separate IR module and the power of the microwave emitters of a single microwave module are calculated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
