Abstract

To enhance display performance in automotive applications subjected to harsh conditions, silicone polymer was used to address crucial interfacial issues such as touch mura and yellow mura in optical stack design. Mura refers to luminance non‐uniformity of a display device. Five different siloxane polymer compositions were prepared as optical laminating materials with different mechanical characteristics, such as hardness, shear modulus, and damping factor. The structures of the polymers were adjusted by varying the H/vinyl ratio, hydrogen source ratio between crosslinks, and terminal‐group reaction. To investigate the influence of mechanical properties on the performance of the polymers as laminating materials for displays, they were used as a lamination layer between a touch screen panel and liquid crystal display (LCD) module. The devices' capacity to handle thermal stress under thermal shock conditions and degree of luminance non‐uniformity associated with touch action were assessed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
