Abstract

Sternal wound infections (SWIs) result in substantial costs to the Australian healthcare system, and implementing new technologies, such as the single-patient electrocardiogram (spECG) system for CABG[1] monitoring - shown to reduce the SWI rate - "is likely to benefit patients and reduce costs", say the authors of a paper published in I ClinicoEconomics and Outcomes Research i . The study[2] used a systematic review of research, with cost data, on CABG-related surgical site infections (SSIs) in Australia published since 2000. [Extracted from the article]
