Abstract

The article explores how to bridge the gap between a written curriculum and the activities in a mathematics lessons. Topics discussed include suggestion to give children images of the number system involving number lines, number squares and Gattegno tens charts; suggestion to talks about the hard work and persistence needed to achieve success; and needs to encourage children to acquire mathematical habits.
