Abstract

The article reports that the elections held in Germany signals the end of the leadership of Chancellor Angela Merkel with no definite winner yet. The center-left Social Democrats have a small lead based on preliminary results. It is expected that it would take some time to form a three-party coalition which leaves the country at a critical stage as Europe still struggles to recover from the pandemic. It describes Merkel as an effective leader of Germany and Europe.
