Abstract
- A previously undescribed anthraquinone-aurone adduct 1, named 8-(4′-hydroxy-3′,5′-dimethoxyphenyl)-12-hydroxy-7-(6′′,7′′-dimethylfuran-2′′-one)-9,16-anthraquinone-furochromene-3,2′′-dione, was isolated from the fruits of Cucumis bisexualis. Its structure was determined by comprehensive spectroscopic data and references. Compound 1 was evaluated for its inhibitory effect against the increase in AST and ALT levels in H2O2-induced HepG2 cells in the range of their maximum nontoxic concentration. Compound 1 exhibited moderate hepatoprotective activities in vitro. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
