Abstract
- The article discusses the possible musical source for Iago's song "Let Me the Cannikin Clink" in the play "Othello" by William Shakespeare. It mentions the role of the drinking songs of Iago as dramatic insights into the plot of the play. It explains the reason behind the possibility that the lutebook "Matthew Holmes MS Dd9.33" is the source for the song. Also cited is the importance of the tendency of the playwright to modify extant melodies to understanding the sources of his songs.
