- The article presents an illustrated reference of biophysical environment of Japan's Hokkaido Prefecture, Pacific Coast. Topics discussed include coastal belt linked classification (CBLC), related environments and habitats; dominant catenary sequence (DCS): coastal ecological sequence (CES); and related geology, biology, geomorphology, littoral oceanography.
