Abstract

Biotechnocommunicology is a complex territory of knowledge in which biology, technology and communication converge. The ideas of Marhall McLuhan, founder of Media Ecology, represent a possible starting point in the understanding of the imaginary biotechnology complex. McLuhan argued that the evolution of media and technologies, because they are extensions of us, precisely depends on us. The intellectual work of Gerald S. Hawkins not only confirmed the relevance of some of McLuhan's advanced theses, which, of course, transcend communicology. Hawkins helped connect McLuhan's ideas with Kurzweil's advanced thinking. In the complexity of the transhumanist imaginary, the possibility arises that the new evolution of Homo Sapiens does not depend on biology, but on technology. This would imply investing a central thesis in McLuhan's thought to understand the renewed Homo Sapiens as an extension of technology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
