The article discusses the concept of gender in both Chinese and Anglophone theories. Topics covered include the role of the location of China in the story of feminism's transition from sex to gender, the role of Chinese thinkers in the creation of a global, multilingual feminist politics, and the historical context in which Chinese thinkers coinvented their own concepts of gender.
