Abstract
- Analysis of transient recovery voltage is essential to develop high-voltage direct current circuit breakers with active current injection technology. This study presents a theoretical analysis of the transient recovery voltage using the Laplace transform, thereafter the value of the transient recovery voltage obtained using this analytical equation is compared to measured reference values. It is found that the analytical transient recovery voltage is given by the sum of a linear function and a damped oscillation function. The amplitude of the damped oscillation is reduced by the resistance of post-arc plasma; therefore, it is necessary to consider the resistance owing to post-arc plasma to evaluate the transient recovery voltage accurately.
