Abstract
- This study investigates the influence of inner reluctance rotor topologies configurations on the electromagnetic performances of coaxial reluctance magnetic gears (CRMGs). It considers flux barrier (FB) rotor topology, as well as the salient pole (SP) rotor. Both SP and FB topologies are optimized by means of different salient shapes and novel supershape formula, respectively. The CRMG performances in terms of torque density and cogging torque have been investigated and optimized fairly by using 3-D finite element analysis. With an appropriate rotor topology, FB-CRMG can achieve higher torque capacity and lower cogging torque in comparison with SP-CRMG topologies. The prototype of optimized FB-CRMG has been built to validate the predictions of output torque quality, its loss, and efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
