Abstract
- Mitchell's contribution dovetails neatly with that of Prunier in taking up the development of Catholicism from the turn of the nineteenth century when mass Irish immigration began to swell the numbers of Catholics in Scotland. The first section is preceded by a chapter on 'The Catholic "Other"', by editors Gheeraert-Grafeuille and Vaughan, both based at the University of Rouen in Normandy. I Anti-Catholicism in Britain and Ireland i , edited by Claire Gheeraert-Graffeuille and Geraldine Vaughan, traces fluctuating expressions of anti-Catholicism in Britain and Ireland between 1600 and 2000.
