Abstract

Addition of exogenous enzymes can significantly improve the absorption of carbohydrate and the utilization rate of protein in ruminants. However, the studies are mainly focused on cows and beef cattle, and there is a lack of more extensive research in sheep production. In the paper, the research status of exogenous enzymes, the mechanism of exogenous enzymes on ruminants, and its effects on sheep production performance, rumen microorganisms fermentation and microbial population were reviewed, to provide a reference for wider application of exogenous enzymes in sheep production.
