Diabetes is today a great challenge for the medical world, forcing an interdisciplinary approach and active involvement of the diabetic patient in his therapeutic algorithm by assuming behavioral and medical changes in his life plan, once the diagnosis of this disease has been performed. As a result of consulting several meta-analyses and some research on the psychiatric pathology associated with diabetes, by far the most common psychiatric conditions involved are depression and anxiety disorders, with needle and hypoglycemia phobia. The relationship between psychiatric disorders and diabetes is a two-way one, both potentiating each other. The appearance of a mental suffering in the context of a diabetic disease will impair the prognosis of the latter and will decrease the glucose control, leading to the appearance of specific complications of a chronic hyperglycemia.
