Abstract
- From the perspective of Austrian Religious Studies and Religious Education, this text formulates two questions for the EKD basic text, which will be elaborated in more detail: First, the question of the limits and potentials of the analytical presuppositions documented in the text, and second, the question of the potentials of the text for current debates on religious education. The following explanations are structured around these two questions. First, the socio-cultural context of Austria will be examined, which differs in several respects from the situation in Germany and thus opens up a special perspective. This is followed by a reconstruction of the central analytical assumptions of the basic text. On this basis, it is discussed what role the topic of „non-denominationalism“ plays in the discourse on religious education and the Protestant church in Austria and what potentials and limitations the EKD basic text could have from this perspective.
