Abstract

Clients' level of pathology and motivation for treatment predicted therapists' countertransference responses differentially, when working actively on transference compared to not working with transference. Countertransference (CT) is a ubiquitous phenomenon: therapists walk into the consulting room, bringing with them their unique ways of relating to others, their vulnerabilities, emotions, sense of humor, creativity and much more. B Clinical or methodological significance of this article: b The introduction highlights the ubiquity of countertransference and the need for further research from the perspective of different therapy model.
