Abstract

However, the corresponding HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msub><mi>U</mi><mtext>rms</mtext></msub></mrow></math> ht shows a complex HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>h</mi></math> ht dependence. One reason to choose this location is to avoid the influence of human activities; e.g., the nearest city is around HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mn mathvariant="normal">74</mn></math> ht HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow class="unit"><mi mathvariant="normal">km</mi></mrow></math> ht from this observation site; see the geolocation indicated in Fig. b. Dust weather in the Hexi Corridor is often caused by intense frontal systems. It first increases logarithmically with HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>h</mi></math> ht and reaches its peak, e.g., HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>h</mi><mo>=</mo><mn mathvariant="normal">8</mn></mrow></math> ht m at A, then decreases roughly logarithmically with HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>h</mi></math> ht . This is partially due to the influence of the ground that the scaling exponent HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msub><mi mathvariant="italic"> </mi><mi>U</mi></msub></mrow></math> ht demonstrates as height dependence.
