Abstract

The induction machine (IM) has advantages of simple structure, low cost, reliable operation, and convenient maintenance, and the application of ultra‐high efficiency IM could effectively improve the energy utilization rate and realize the emission reduction. Therefore, in this paper, the radial skewed rotor and the stator energy‐saving winding are first designed to improve the efficiency of IM. Then the Taguchi method, differential evolution algorithm, sequential subspace multi‐objective optimization, and 6σ evaluation criterion are integrated to realize the multi‐objective robust optimization design (MOROD). In the proposed MOROD scheme, the combined surrogate model is also researched to reduce the calculation burden during the optimization process. Furthermore, the MOROD scheme is applied to the design of a 22 kW, four poles ultra‐high efficiency IM to validate its effectiveness. © 2021 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
