Abstract

This article reports that U.S. President George W. Bush's Cabinet choices for his second term are nearly set, with several holdovers and some new faces. But even some named to new jobs are administration insiders, tapped for transfers or promotions. Industry is especially pleased about the December 9 announcement that Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta will stay on. One reason industry is happy the former 10-term congressman will remain at transportation is because they want to see Congress clear a long-stalled multiyear transportation bill. of Energy, Deputy Treasury Secretary Samuel Bodman, has no evident background in the energy field. Industry also is watching whom Bush selects to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), after Bush tapped EPA Administrator Michael Leavitt to be secretary of Health and Human Services.
