Abstract

The document "Denuncia de Don Francisco de Val, un llamado a la vigilancia a la frontera imperial de Bacalar-Wallis, 1797" is a complaint made by Francisco de Val, an officer of the Crown, to the captain general of Yucatan, Arturo O'Neill. Val complains about the behavior of the Spanish governor of the San Felipe de Bacalar garrison, Colonel Felipe María Codallos, and exposes the difficulties he faces in carrying out operations on the border due to the governor's actions. The document includes the transcription of the complaint and details about the governor's malicious maneuvers. The complaint reveals the lack of cooperation from the local populations in Bacalar and the reality of the imperial border between Spain and England. [Extracted from the article]
