Abstract

This article focuses on anti-trust laws. The purpose of the patent and copyright laws is to create monopolies. The purpose of the "Anti-Trust Laws" is to restrict them. Obviously there is a line where the operations of the two groups of statutes must come into contact, if not into conflict. Conferring the right to create patents and copyrights, the Constitution of the U.S. gives to Congress the power "To promote the progress of science and useful arts by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries."
