Propolis has an ancient history of being used medicinally by humans. Poplar propolis is the most widespread type of propolis in Bulgaria. Its specific quantitative chemical characteristics have been recently standardized. The administration of propolis using electrical currents and therapeutic ultrasound (api-physiotherapy) is less investigated. There is no evidence of propolis bioavailability in synovial fluid as a result of api-physioterapy. The aim of the article is to present a comparison of two different modalities of joint api-physiotherapy. The results show greater propolis bioavailability as galvanic current is used which is a fundament of further studies in the field of pharmacokinetics of propolis physiotherapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
