Abstract

Electrospray-assisted interfacial polymerization has recently raised researchers' attention during membrane fabrication process due to the thickness of the polyamide layer is tunable in nanometers. Here we report that 2D molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2) nanosheets could endow the electrospray-assisted interfacial polymerization polyamide membrane with improved selectivity at a short spray time. The nanosheets dispersed uniformly under the electric field. The optimal TFN-15 membrane demonstrated water permeance of 9.23 L m−2 h−1·bar−1 and Na 2 SO 4 rejection of 95.4%. Furthermore, the obtained polyamide membranes showed splendid stability and antifouling. Our research provides an effective strategy for the optimization of the fabrication process of the electrospray-assisted interfacial polymerization polyamide membrane with high-performance. [Display omitted] • 2D nanosheets optimize the electrospray-assisted membrane fabrication process. • MoS 2 nanosheets dispersed well under electric field. • The obtained polyamide membrane had excellent separation performance.
