Abstract: The production of space in Mallorca results from two seminal socio-economic convulsions. This paper analyzes both of them. Firstly the Germanies rebellion defeat (1523) that is understood as the Big Bang of 'paleocapitalism' at the Island; and secondly the emergence of the tourism and real estate economic model deployed in the island since 1950. Our analysis front both episodes and show parallelisms and differences between them. All in all, in order to deep in the mechanism of space production and envisage how to manage it in order to prioritize the general interest in front of private and speculative interests.
