Abstract

Other scholars (e.g., [8]; [31]; [50]; [59]; [68]) claimed that I le i used in this way is a fusion of both the perfective I le i and the particle I le i . One participant (#25) considered "raise/keep I le i a dog" in S5 as an equivalent type to "be married I le i ", noting that both are "durative action"; but the same participant considered "rent I le i an apartment" as similar to "pour I le i a glass alcohol", stating that both describe "instantaneous" actions. Unfortunately, this insight did not lead to what would be a logical conclusion, namely that the inceptive I le i prevails over the perfective I le i in [V I le i ]. For example, the [verb I le i ] search returned I zou le i "go away I le i " many tokens of which were a part of I ná-zou le i "take away I le i " or some other verbal strings where I zou i is a directional suffix meaning "away".
