Abstract
- Wave-packet dynamics in bounded systems manifests quantum recurrences at different time scales, namely, classical periodicity, quantum revivals, and fractional revivals. Here, we analyze the characteristics of the wave-packet evolution in a special class of quantum systems with position-dependent mass. Such systems are of fundamental interest in many areas, for instance, condensed matter, mathematical physics, and foundations of quantum mechanics. We explore the effect of position-dependence on wavepacket quantum recurrences by theoretic investigation of the temporal evolution of the position-space probability density and autocorrelation function.
