Abstract

Although for the last decade self-efficacy beliefs to translate have been studied by several researchers, it is still necessary to perform further research on this construct, especially from the perspective of translator education (Atkinson and Crezee, 2014; Way, 2009). However, to study the teaching practices that may foster translation students' self-efficacy beliefs or to study how these beliefs can affect students' learning, it is necessary to use valid and reliable instruments that allow researchers to measure selfefficacy beliefs, specifically, to translate. With this general aim, this article presents the Translator's self-efficacy beliefs scale that Haro-Soler (2018a) designed, validated and employed in a quasi-experimental field study performed as part of her doctoral dissertation. Both the Spanish and the English version of this scale are presented here, together with a description of the design and validation process followed. Moreover, the quasiexperimental study where this scale was used is described in the following pages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
