Quality of Life of Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Thi-Qar-Iraq.

Abstract

Today, diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global issue. it is an increment in blood sugar (hyperglysemia) and it is one of the most chronic, severe and metabolic disaeses. it is an exacting disease that affects general health, functioning, autonomy, life style and quality of life Present studies have been undertaken to determine the quality of life of patients with type II diabetes in Thiqar governorate and to test other propos ed clinical and sociodemographic factors that may influence the quality of life of these patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was operated in 2018-2019. A 100 patients enrolled in this crosssectional study. The short model of the questionnaire, the World Health Organizations Quality of Life Appraisal (WHOQOLBREEF), was applied to determine the quality of life after being updated and translated into the regional Arabic language. Results:100 percent (100/100) was the response rate. There were 52 females, while 48 were males. For QOL overall, 85 (85percent) had a decent score, 12 (percent) had a fair score, and 3 (3percent) had a bad score. For the physical activity domain; 16 for the psychological activity domain had a poor score; 3 for the environm ental domain had a poor score;2 for the social domain had a poor score; no person had a bad score. Conclusion: It was concluded that QOL of patients with DM were good and this disease affects physical health by the first degree, psychological activity and environmental domains are slightly affected while for the social domain; there is no effects of the disease according to our study.
