Abstract

The article focuses on the role of culture and language in cognition. It mentions English philosopher Thomas Hobbes discussed the role of signs in human cognition without, however, insisting on the necessity of culture for this to take place, and thought that due to the close union of the soul with the body, culture and language do affect our mind by causing changes in our body, mainly in the brain, which in turn affect the mind.
