Abstract

The article focuses on the role of culture and language in cognition. It mentions possibility or impossibility of reducing human nature to functions that are natural, mainly sensation, was also an important theme and subject of disputes in the writings of David Hume. It also mentions Hume's discussion on how impressions and ideas are associated or related to each other is confined mostly to the psychological level of description, referring only occasionally to the traces in the brain.
