Abstract
- The Republican People's Party, which held the administration from the foundation of the Republic until 1950, carried out a statist economic policy until 1947. Due to the economic depressions and negative consequences caused by the Second World War, the liberal economy in the world was on the rise. Thus, the Republican People's party also turned to the liberal economy since 1947, but did not accept it as a state policy. In 1950, the Democratic Party won the election with a large majority of the votes under the slogan "enough words belong to the nation". With the Democratic Party taking over the country, liberalism in Turkey has become a state policy and thus private capital has been supported in all areas. This policy of the Democratic Party has shown itself in all aspects, and private equity has taken a leading position in this regard. But situations such as the negativity caused by the Korean War, foreign exchange problems in 1954, and the inability to receive expected assistance from the United States led to a change in Turkey's understanding of an agricultural-oriented liberal economy. From this period, an industry-oriented approach was adopted, and instead of imported goods that could not be realized due to foreign exchange shortages, raw materials available at home were easily processed and the demands of the domestic market were tried to be met. During this period, the Democratic Party administration supported many industrial branches. Some of these supported branches are Sugar Mills, weaving mills, cement factories and iron and steel factories. The majority of the public's share in these branches covers and they have been funded by various loans by many public banks, especially Sümerbank. In the study, document and document analysis method from qualitative research methods were used by considering the Democratic Party's understanding and practices of industrialization, namely "sugar factories, weaving industries, cement factories, iron and steel factories". Thus, archival documents and first-hand sources describing the period were examined and an objective study was tried to be put forward. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
