Abstract

The study has an interdisciplinary character by approaching from a librarianship perspective the advertising of textbook, as a bibliographic unit, in the press published in the times of the Great Union of Romania. The objective is to identify the ways of promoting the textbooks in the pages of the representative newspapers and magazines and to analyze how this promotion was done. The following collections of newspapers were studied: Neamul Românesc (1918), Adevărul (1919-1921), Universul (1920) and the magazines: Ilustrația neamului nostru (1919-1921) and Bibliografia (1920-1921). The study of the newspapers and magazines seeks to identify, analyze and explain how the notion of textbook appears in the advertising sections, and provides an image of the topic of book in general, and school book or textbook in particular. The advertising in the press published in the times of the Great Union not only reflects the editorial product itself - the textbook, but also builds the cultural value of the product in the readers mind, thus contributing to the phenomenon of literacy and culture popularization.
