Article 7 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child declares the right of every child to be registered after birth and to acquire a nationality. The "invisible children", referred in this article, are born in the course of their mothers' migratory journey -- between the country of origin and the country of destination --, without a birth certificate or registration. This circumstance subsequently prevents them from acquiring an identity and a nationality, becoming therefore statelessness. This article analyzes the instruments of the Spanish legal system to avoid childhood statelessness in these cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
